2000 - Created as my BFA thesis project following the sudden death of my closest friend, this autobiographical series served as a form of visceral therapy. These nearly life-sized depictions of myself and my family—both blood and chosen—were produced through a chaotic fusion of mediums: analog photography exposed onto liquid emulsion and fiber paper, combined with gesso on stretched burlap, and aggressively worked with black acrylic and spray paint. The work was produced on the floor of my attic bedroom in Boston, exploring the intersection of memory and loss, where photography is intentionally obscured and attacked by the physical hand.
